Monte Carlo in Las Vegas on fire!
January 26th, 2008

That is right, the Monte Carlo on the Las Vegas strip is currently on fire.

This has to take you back to 1980 when the MGM Grand burst into flames and killed 19. Are these hotels really just becoming so big that they cannot verify the safety of their patrons? It’s something to think about as you visit Vegas and see cranes in every direction. These cranes are building bigger and bigger casino’s with more rooms and more areas for error. The top few floors were effected and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. The 3,000-room hotel was evacuated and no injuries, with the exception of a few minor cases of smoke inhalation, were reported in the three-alarm blaze.
Thankfully everyone seems to be ok, just some cases of smoke inhalation. We will keep everyone updated as this story unfolds. CNN reported that their were welders on the roof as the fire broke out.
Here is a user filmed video put up on youtube.com from down the street. It’s like Cloverfield.

Here is a preview of what King Stampede has to offer in 2008. Hopefully the J. Money Collection was just a sign of things to come for the collaboration market and they sneaked a preview of their denim coming in 2008. King Stampede looks like it will be holding it down and continue competing in 2008.

This is an online release exclusive from Diamond Supply Company that hit the online retail market January 5th. It’s a collaboration with Tribute and I love the Diamond style they put into this. The “We get money” arrow is classic and the ink colors are spot on. Wear the shit enough at the casino and you could hit the $1,000,000 jackpot!

Bill Gates Last Day of Work

This video was released at CES yesterday as Bill Gates gave a speech on Sync 2.0. I guess who cares about how crappy Sync won’t work and blah blah blah. But this video makes Bill Gates look cooler than Steve Jobs!
This is hilarious, however they got the likes of George Clooney, Jon Stewart, Bono, Jay-Z, Brian Williams, Steven Spielberg and Matthew McConaughey to help with this video rocks. Amazing the pull Bill Gates can bring. The George Clooney piece is hilarious.
Lush Life- Bandit Tee

Welcome to the Lush Life and the bandit of the Wild Wild East. The bandit is sporting the New York Yankee’s cowboy hat and the Lush Life bandanna. This shirt gives me this flashback to an old NASCAR team. I know it’s an odd tie in but here is a small shot of the Skoal car. I know like half of you streetwear kids just crossed this off your list because I compared it to NASCAR but hey, a shirt with a soul is better than a meaningless screen on some cotton right? Anyways, add this Lush Life piece to your collection.

Rogue Status brings it back to the 80’s for the A-Team. You should pity the fool that doesn’t rock this shirt. It’s a DTA special from Rogue Status (Don’t Trust Anyone)! The A-Team will take down anyone for a price so don’t step to the A-Team! This Rogue Status tee comes in black and white colorways.

Can they digg this bad press?

A few friends of mine have been hyped on Digg for a long time now and it’s been gaining steam for some time now! Digg has been on major scrutiny it seems from just about everywhere I look these days. The first time I was told about Digg it was described to me as a place that “Showed the stories Slashdot didn’t post” which seemed like an interesting and creative mentality.
The ForeverGeek scandal called Digg out on having a “Digg Army” that Dugg each other’s posts, foisting those stories onto the main page consistently. This wasn’t the first time Digg had been accused of something like this but it was the first time it received major attention. Many major media networks tapped into the story at this time. Forever Geek was then banned from Digg (later reinstated after a reply from Kevin Rose) and magically members of the “Digg Army” seemed to phase out as well.
These kind of things are to be expected with massive growth on a project and as Digg continues to grow the anti-hero down with Digg mentality will grow within the IT/web elitist but I figured it was something worth putting up some penmanship about this morning. A “Brief History of Digg Controversy” and a section in the digg.com wiki entry got me motivated to type this one up. At the time of this article digg is 135 on Alexa.
The Hundreds is Shoe?
January 6th, 2008
Posted in The Hundreds
Bobby Hundreds slapped the heel of a shoe with the bomb logo on it right after New Year’s. I lagged putting the story up for some reason and now the shoe seems to have the speculators and loyal Hundreds fans going nuts. The two most consistent rumors to date are the shoe is a collaboration with DC Shoe Company or the shoe is a collaboration with Airwalk. I guess the guys at TH will shed the light sooner than later.

Married to the Mob x Ryan Leslie T-shirt

NYC’s very own Married to the Mob has put out some collaboration t-shirts with music producer Ryan Leslie (Leslie is the 87th-most subscribed YouTube channel). Diamond Girl is a remix of the song Diamond Girl sang by Kayne West. Looks like a big move for Married to the Mob entering the spot light in an interesting way. They just need to make sure they get someone wearing that t-shirt on his YouTube account.

Movie Review: Nike SB – Nothing But the Truth

So I finally got a chance today to sit down and watch the Nike SB film, Nothing but the Truth. I have to say it’s the best movie I have seen in 2008 even though it’s January 5th. This movie is amazing and Lionel Goldstein does a remarkable job at presenting skateboarding in a whole new light. I think it will redefine the way skate films will move forward and it’s tacky unique 80’s style mobile home city they built is amazing. The filler videos are hysterical! I think Chet Childers was my favorite parody section with the robotic cow and his skate section was amazing as well. It’s hard for me even to explain a movie that makes so little sense but it was great and the most entertaining skate video I have seen to date. So check it out!
