Lakai – The Quiet Life Collab. MJ Select – Brown Suede

The Quiet Life is a small design/clothing/art project that’s run by designer/photographer/Lakai art director Andy Mueller. It’s Andy’s personal art/design project that he works on in his free time. The first time I saw the Quiet Life was at Krudmart in Buffalo, New York I am pretty sure. I like the line and as a photographer myself gotta support the project! Most of the graphics are simple, straight forward, and humorous. His designs often use bold iconography, irony, and word play.

Skate Mental – No Broke Hoes

Skate Mental is a HILARIOUS company that clearly has a great sense of humor. They make odd skateboards with sharks and half eaten legs, cats in front of houses on fire standing on piles of money. Pretty much anything with a touch of class can be found on their boards. This shirt says it all, Broke Hoes is a No No. This guy that in the image cracks me up too. Check this out, haha.

Matix- Hollywood High School

If you know about skateboarding in Los Angeles then you know about the Hollywood High stairs. I’m glad Matix slapped together a little tee about this place because I’ve seen some CRAZY stuff in videos on these stairwells. You can find them the Hollywood High stairwell in these videos; Misled Youth, The Storm, Baker2g, The End, Dying To Live, Yeah Right, This Is Skateboarding etc., and more. This shirt is paying homage to the sick spot. The school contains a 12-stair and 16-stair with perfect railings and a perfect landing spot. The 12 stair has a gate about 15-20 feet from the bottom of the stairwell.

DVS is one of the biggest skate teams around in the current day and age. The DVS Skate Team consists of: Daewon Song, Keith Hufnagel, Chico Brenes, Steve Berra, Kerry Getz, Mike Taylor, Jereme Rogers, Jeron Wilson, Daniel Castillo, Zered Bassett, Torey Pudwill, Lamare Hemmings, and Guru Khals. This shirt comes in white, black and as seen here sand. DVS has really come full circle and this year even launched a new branch called Luxe. I really like the unique logo intergration on this shirt and the skull adds a real nice touch. It’s a very simple design that works but has a complex layered feel to it.

Along with the shoe this collaboration I have seen some samples of a hat and heard rumors of a hoodie coming out in coordination with this deal. This is part of the original intent line for DVS. I am really looking forward to this shoe dropping in November on the 2nd. I am really stoked about the collab. because these are two of my favorite brands on a great collaboration. The only item I haven’t seen is the hoodie but I plan to purchase that one real quick.
